Figuration with Artist Statement - Painting 2025 - Project 4

His Royal Throne: America features Donald Trump as the object of derision. The idea for this political portrait sparked from a humorous thought to portray him similar to King Louis XIV's portrait. Displaying Trump in the iconic "Swagger Pose" would not only connect him to a historical royal figure who is known for his obsession with vanity, spending lavishly, and desire for control, but also invoke an unseriousness in Trump's "reign." It was important for this painting to be flippant to ensure my personal political beliefs were unmistakable, but putting President Trump in an art historical piece that requires extensive background knowledge may not achieve this goal - in fact, it could become the opposite, a glorified portrait. Abstraction Now with Artist Statement - Painting 2025 - Project 5

Utilizing acrylic paint, glitter, stencils, holographic stickers, caulk, and paint additives, I created 6 mimetic- abstract forms of the human intestines. The 5 x 7” canvases are evenly divided into feminine and grotesque aesthetics to portray the contrast between what the small and large intestines look like in actuality and the beautification within w omen’s healthcare. Arranged in a checkered pattern, the feminine aesthetic maintains a baby pink background with baby blue de cal comania , holographic accents , and glitter-covered paint skins as the main subject. The paint skins in the left and middle canvas represent the ridges and intestinal villi inside the intestines and are deliberately floral-like to enhance the association of fe mininity .
